Consumer Panel Services GfK is introducing a new InHome Scanning (IHS) method to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The method will collect data regarding shopping habits of households using barcode scanners. The rationale behind the idea is to significantly accelerate data processing and enable clients to make timely marketing decisions.
As of January 2012 the households in the panel will use this method to record all their purchases of FMCG products. The household panel will be equipped with GPRS scanners with a display and keyboard, and the data will be transmitted to the GfK servers via a mobile network.
The key benefits of our InHome Scanning method : the speed by which we acquire the data to be further processed and the possibility to enlarge the number of the in detail monitored FMCG categories to practically no limit.
And to do so including fresh food products, i.e., especially fruit and vegetables, bread and bakery or meat and meat products.
The transition to InHome Scanning was preceded by almost two years of preparation. GfK Consumer Panel Sevices is very particular about testing and preparations to validate the data, as well as about giving maximum support and motivation to the individual households in the panel.
The InHome Scanning method is used to collect the data in household panels in Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlends, Norway, Poland, Austria, Russia and Sweden. In the CEE region it is planned to introduce the IHS across the board, and the Czech Republic and Slovakia – like in many other places – are at the top in innovations.
